Diabetes Australia Research Trust (DART)

 

The Diabetes Australia Research Trust (DART) began in 1987 and has funded over $11 million in diabetes research grants.

The current program of grants provides for:-

• NHMRC/DART Five Year Career Development Award - $400,000 over five years

• Dart Millennium Award - $150,000 over one or two years for Type 1 diabetes research

• RACP/DART fellowship - $50,000 over one year

• Around 25 grants of up to $40,000 for basic, clinical, educational,
psychological
or health care delivery research

Diabetes Australia is committed to funding a broad range of research projects that will provide the latest management techniques to people with diabetes and those at risk of the disease.The grants given by Diabetes Australia Research Trust are often the first step for many of the researchers who go on to receive further funding to continue their ground-breaking work.

How to apply for a research grant

Applications for DART are called for at the start of May each year and close at the end of June. After assessment by three independent reviewers, successful grants are announced on World Diabetes Day, 11 November 2004.
