Signs and Symptoms

My mum is at her wits end if I eat the tiniest amount of sugar, I am off the planet unless of course I drink ten tonne of water to push it through my system (which I do drink every day). If my mum doesn't watch what I eat my behaviour becomes unbearable, to the point that I become jittery and irritable and I develop very dry itchy patches over my body, my great grandmother and at least 6 of my great aunts and uncles have diabetes should my mother have me tested. She has tried to eliminate foods with high sugar content and excess preservatives and additives but still finds it difficult to find a balance that is good for me. Since eliminating most of the sugar in my diet I have stopped having my 4-5 weekly dose of irritability that usually lasts 36hours which during this time all i usually do is drink heaps of water and that seems to help. Would it be advisable to have me tested and if I do need to be tested what types of tests will I need to have.

I have a 14 yr old son who craves sugar, goes to the toilet a lot, urine sometimes smells, he has days were he feels sick and is tired, and looks dehydrated, what tests and questions do I ask his doctor?
