Question: I'm a teen and my mom HATES me all because I forget to check my glucose like once a month and it's an accident, should she be getting this mad at me to the point where she tells me to see a shrink and acts like se doesn't care about me?

Answer:

Hi Russell,

Thank you for your question to the forum. It's great that you are looking for support to talk about this.

We talk to lots of kids on the phone, at schools, at our camps and events, who just like you feel the pressure from families relating to BGL testing and their levels.

It doesn't help when families get mad, even though they don't usually mean any harm. There are lots of reasons why people behave the way they do and you need someone to take the time to talk to you personally.

It's a great idea to talk to you diabetes educator about how your feeling, who will be able to help you work this out.

You can also call our kids and teen careline on 1300 342 238 and ask to speak to a diabetes educator.

Best Wishes,
