It is not a normal occurrence, but occasionally it does happen. It typically occurs
when a site is too close to a blood vessel, near the
skin surface.
Usually it doesn’t cause any problems. However, one concern is when there is a
more deep bleed, which you may feel as a hard uncomfortable lump under the
skin, in which case you may need to see your doctor.
You mentioned that you often experience bleeding. At this stage we would advise
you to mention this to your Diabetes Educator, as they will probably want to
explore the reason for this. For example, through a review of your cannula
insertion and removal technique.
