The effect of missed bolus doses on diabetes management in young people on pumps
A study of teenagers on insulin pump therapy has shown that missing boluses is common. More than one third of teenagers reported missing >15% of their boluses on the day before the study. These teenagers were more likely to have a higher HbA1c’s, be less likely to monitor BGLs, be less satisfied with their diabetes treatment and more negative about their medical management. The results highlighting the need for strategies to educate and encourage better bolusing habits in this age group.
