Physical activity in kids on intensive insulin treatment

A Norwegian study has found that many children with type 1 diabetes are not active enough for good health. The study of 700 young people with type 1 diabetes aged 6-19 years used a questionnaire to determine activity levels and types of physical activity. The results showed that just over half of the participants met the recommended 60 minutes of daily physical activity, with girls tending to be less active than boys. More than 40% also reported watching TV for more than 2 hours per day and this was associated with an increased likelihood of being overweight.
